In today’s day and age, personal video recorders are becoming more and more popular, allowing people to time shift their favorite programs and watch them on their schedule, not the television network’s.
PVR’s superior recording quality, superior storage capacity and advanced features make your old VCR look like a dinosaur in comparison. The latest PVR models offer recording capacity in excess of 300 hours and offer features such as remote recording, room to room streaming and the ...

American Gladiators NBC 8:00 pm ET
Are you ready for some Hang Tough? The popular competition show from the mid-1990s is reincarnated in this new version, which returns with a two-hour second-season premiere. Ordinary people are pitted against the show's "gladiators" -- action stars and stunt artists -- in a variety of strength and endurance contests that fans will remember from the original show, only with a 21st-century twist.

House FOX 9:00 pm ET
This show always goes out with a bang -- sometimes literally, as in the second-season finale in which House (Hugh Laurie) was shot. In the opener of this gripping two-part season ender, he loses a big chunk of his memory due to a bus accident. He has a lingering feeling that someone else on the bus was deathly ill, but he can't remember the details. Robert Sean Leonard also stars in "House's Head."

Sex: The Revolution VH1 10:00 pm ET
Yes, it's on VH1, and it's got the S word in the title, but this four-part series is educational. It traces the loosening of sexual mores that began in the 1950s with Dr. Kinsey and Hugh Hefner, continued through the '60s with the pill and the youth movement, peaked in the 1970s, and hit roadblocks in the '80s from the new conservatism and the AIDS epidemic. Commentators include actor Danny Glover, writer Erica Jong and porn star Marilyn Chambers.

Bones FOX 8:00 pm ET
Booth's got a secondhand stalker! "American Idol" season five finalist Ace Young guest stars in this new episode as an aspiring singer who is killed. Brennan and Booth (Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz) have a lot of suspects among his fans and enemies, but one is especially memorable: She's transferred her obsession with the victim to Booth. Brandon Rogers, the 12th-place "Idol" finisher from this season, also guest stars in "The Wannabe in the Weeds."

Gossip Girl CW 8:00 pm ET
Intervention time! After Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) spills the beans on why Serena (Blake Lively) left town for boarding school, Serena reverts to her old ways, causing Blair, Nate and Chuck (Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick) to set down their own baggage and try to help. But Dan (Penn Badgley) is still in the dark and suspecting the worst. Rufus (Matthew Settle) gets a big gig and a surprise in the new episode "Woman on the Verge."

The 39 Steps TCM 8:00 pm ET
Alfred Hitchcock aficionados will see the seeds of "North by Northwest" in this 1935 British adaptation of a novel by future Canadian Governor General John Buchan. Robert Donat stars as as a Canadian visiting London, who allows an attractive spy (Lucie Mannheim) to hide in his flat from two men who are trying to kill her. When she turns up dead the next day, he goes on the run from both the killers and the police, who think he murdered her.

American Experience PBS 9:00 pm ET
Unabashedly politically liberal and physically disabled, Franklin Delano Roosevelt probably couldn't get elected in today's harsh media climate. But he was one of the most popular presidents of the previous century -- and the longest-serving one ever. This profile traces FDR's life from his privileged childhood through his early political career, his bout with polio and his presidency, with its twin challenges of a depression and world war.

One Tree Hill CW 9:00 pm ET
Tissue alert. While Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) deals with some terrible news, Brooke (Sophia Bush) anxiously waits for her baby to come out of surgery. Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti) does some soul-searching over her decision to make a new record. Nathan and Skills (James Lafferty, Antwon Tanner) have a plan to save the Ravens' season, but it's risky. Hilarie Burton also stars in the new episode "Hate Is Safer Than Love."

Today You Die SPIKE 9:00 pm ET
Someone needs to take Steven Seagal aside and tell him about Kenny Rogers' law. You know, the one about knowing when to fold 'em? Not only is he getting a little long in the tooth and soft in the belly to keep playing the action hero, but he's phoning in his performances lately. Take this 2005 yawner. Please. Playing a Robin Hoodish thief trying to go straight who becomes the fall guy for someone else's crime, Seagal looks as if he should be wearing a button that says, "I'd rather be anywhere but in this stupid movie."
-
Samantha Who? ABC 9:32 pm ET
As the old song says, breaking up is hard to do, but Sam (Christina Applegate) is wishing it were a little easier. She's putting things on hold with Todd (Barry Watson) until he's finally free of Chloe (Kiele Sanchez) -- who, Sam suspects, is lying about a sick relative to forestall the breakup. Birthday party plans for Sam have Regina and Andrea (Jean Smart, Jennifer Esposito) at odds in the season finale, "The Birthday."

CSI: Miami CBS 10:00 pm ET
Uh-oh! Caine (David Caruso) and his colleagues face a huge threat to their future in this new episode. A private investigator (guest star Tom Sizemore) has grown a grudge against the CSI team and is making it his mission to destroy it. Will he succeed? Unlikely, as the show will be back next season, but it's fun to watch him try. Emily Procter, Adam Rodriguez and Khandi Alexander also star in "Down to the Wire."
